Last weekend while we were visiting family in PA, we threw in a birthday surprise party for my Dad.
We didn't want to miss this opportunity to remind him that he is now half way to 100..:)
We sent out invites that looked like this...
Not sure of his age here... Thinking somewhere in the preteens or early teens...
P.S.. don't even try to call that RSVP number... You won't be getting a hold of Heather, trust me. I wrote the wrong number on the invites, my sister (Heather) proof read... And low and behold we got the number wrong!! Poor person with this number. And poor us, because we now didn't have a clue who was coming!!
We spent the whole day Friday being very sneaky,, Thankfully he was very busy that day and didn't even seem to notice us sneaking around.. :)
Around 6 in the evening.. my brother went to him at work and told him he needs to get ready to go... He was surprised.. Didn't have a clue about anything. That of course is fun for those planning!! :)
Stepping in the door, Mom showing him the invitation...
50 years young ^
The table above showing pictures of times past, toys from when he was a little tyke and some of his hobbies(hunting with his dog Bessie)...
Above we have the food table.
We had:
Hot buffalo wing dip
Salsa
Cheese ball
Chips and Crackers for the above
Veggies and dip
Cupcakes
Mocha Punch
Coffee
Note to self and others as well: Don't serve mocha punch at a 50 yr olds party(unless there is decaf in it!). They will love it, they will drink lots.. And it will most likely keep them up most of the night after! In this case it kept the birthday guy up!! :)
Some of the guests...
It was a fun evening for my dad .. Once he got over the whole "i don't need a birthday party for me" idea..:)
Happy Birthday Dad.. We love you!
